Shane Carruth's debut is quite impressive considering he taught himself filmmaking within a three-year span. The story he wrote is obviously one that he had given a fair bit of thought to and is remarkably heady and trippy. Hollywood doesn't dare produce movies this challenging, so this is a true gem for people who enjoy cerebral stories that make the audience work a little to follow the narrative. I'm not going to say that I understood everything, especially since I've only watched the movie once, but I certainly appreciated this film since it tackled hard science and difficult concepts without dumbing things down. I'm definitely going to watch this one again.

Do not listen to anyone who says it is boring or terrible. It is one of the most thought-provoking, ingenuitive, and smart sci-fi films ever- and done on a budget of $7000. I own this DVD- and you should too.

It's the worst movie I have seen the last 5 years... It s obvious that the director try to immitate the chef d'oeuvre Pi from Darren Aronofsky, but it is a catastroph... how old is the director? I hope he will come back soon to do some sciences... it confirms me that sundance is one of the worst festival in the world... I want my money back...

Buy the DVD; this is too good to see only once.

Loved the science-fiction aspect... thought provoking and besides my brother Keith Bradshaw was in it. Can't wait to buy the DVD in early April. This film provokes conversation among thinking people. Don't expect many of those folks who like to be FED to get it. Requires a modicum of brains and thought. So Cool.

I was happy to walk away from this movie pondering the allegorical truths it presents. Maybe it is telling us something very profound about how technology is changing us. Or maybe it's just a cool flick about some complicated science stuff that has a what th ehell kinda ending. Truth as well as wonder is where we find it.

I felt like I was watching the Blair Science Project, but with even less understanding of what was supposed to be happening. There's so much more Carruth could have done with the prescience/doppelganger theme. I felt bad that I didn't stop to pick up discount passes so I could have at least saved $5.

Intriguing, definitely. A result surprising, yet obvious. At 77 minutes this film is too short. I may well see it again.

I agree with Adam. You don't need a big production to have a great movie. This movie is complex; be prepared for a Pi / Memento kind of movie. It's simply amazing!

I'm sure to get hate mail from the other person who saw this movie, but this could very well have been the worst movie since Jeepers Creepers 2. I understood the concept and how it worked, but did not understand every single thing that took place. Another movie that was difficult to understand was Mulholland Drive, but the difference is that Mulholland was entertaining despite the confusing plot, and the fun came from trying to figure it out. Primer is the kind of movie that seems as if the plot should be a little easier to get. When it was over, I felt like I had not been paying attention. Needlessly confusing, with details that don't seem important miring the sequence of events. Too much science talk in the beginning makes you wonder why a physics degree wasn't required to purchase a ticket. Uninteresting characters, terrible film quality and no mercy for the technologically-impaired make Primer a must-see for computer geeks and those who are able to convince themselves a movie is good just because it's made on a shoestring budget and has a grainy picture. I blew $10 on this and really REALLY miss it now.

So if Shane Carruth can make this good a movie on $7, 000 why does it take Oliver Stone $150 million to make a flop? Great movie, not to be missed; although you may have to see it a second time if you don't pay attention.

This movie is not the one with a large multimilion budget. It explores the sequences of a single scientific discove that could change the way reality is understood. The movies is not presemptious but really at times need scientific knowledge from the public. Actors are playing well and the plot is lacking holes or loose logic. DefiniteLY GO AND SEE IT WITH THIS IN MIND.

How can I say this, you must be very smart to understand this film. Its an excellent work of art, well made, and has an amazing script. The acting is great, and for a debut director it is great. I do admit I'll have to go again because of the heavy science but even so, its well worth watching several times.
